It is a misconception that copper water pipes will last forever. When copper piping was first designed, it was only projected to last for up to 20-25 years. Failure in the product can often occur in as little as two years due to the varying chemistry in the water system. The chemistry of the water (which does not affect the water quality) has reduced the effectiveness of copper pipes.
This being said though Copper is one of the most widely used materials for plumbing systems because it is easy of use, it is resistant to corrosion, it is also resistant to permeation by liquids and gases, which can be sources of both corrosion and contamination.
We have several options available for our customers to choose from to repair the water leak.
- Repair the leak with the application of a solder
- Replacing the section of defective piping
- Re-plumbing the entire house with new copper materials or with alternative products
